Peer Mentoring in the Transition School/University

Peer mentoring for prospective students and students with disabilities and chronic illness in the entry phase of their studies.

With the mentoring program "Start early instead of staying late!", DoBuS offers high school students, prospective students, and students in their first semesters a new, attractive service. Experienced students with disabilities in higher semesters (mentors) support and guide prospective students and first-year students with disabilities (mentees) in making a successful entry into their studies at TU Dortmund University. The mentors not only have expert knowledge within their field of study - they are also experienced in dealing with their own disabilities and impairments in the higher education context.

"Start early instead of staying late!" is the first peer mentoring service offered by TU Dortmund University that assists prospective students with disabilities and chronic illnesses or students entering university, particularly in their transition from school to university. With the inclusive design of the project, DoBuS pursues the goal of helping the enrolled mentees to start their studies without obstacles. Jointly, all participants in peer mentoring contribute significantly in actively forming diversity at the university.

The program includes an individual coaching and the establishing of a social network at the university.

More  information for interested mentees can be found in the section for prospective students and  and for mentors in the section for students.
